Geneseo and Sterling Invited to Join Western Big 6 Conference

According to the Geneseo School District website, the Maple Leafs have been invited to join the Western Big 6 Conference for the 2019-20 school year. The school board will be meeting tomorrow, March 21, to discuss and decide whether to accept the invite.

A report in the Dispatch-Argus says Sterling High School was also invited to join the WB6. Sterling's Athletic Director told the newspaper that he will take the proposal to their board for discussion, and a vote could be taken at the next board meeting.

The current Western Big 6 Conference member teams are Rock Island, Moline, Alleman, United Township, Galesburg and Quincy.

No word on whether the conference would be renamed the Western Big 8 with the addition of the two new invitees.
