Most Quad Citizens have anticipated the opening of the I-74 Bridge and looked forward to better, easier, quicker, travel from Iowa to Illinois or vise versa that was less zipper mergey.

All of that is a great thing to look forward to but the icing on the cake was the announcement of the bike and pedestrian crossing that is planned as well.

Now that we have the twin spans open for vehicular business we're sad to announce the delay of the icing.

The I-74 Bridge Facebook page shared this update:

We know many are eagerly awaiting the new bike and pedestrian path. Construction is anticipated to be completed in the next several weeks, however, after careful consideration, the path will remain closed until the spring.
After discussing with the cities of Bettendorf and Moline, who will maintain the bike and pedestrian path, we’ve all agreed that it’s necessary to take some time to determine the most efficient snow and ice removal methods on the path this winter. It’s very likely there will be a bit of a learning curve on a completely new structure like this, and the safety of all pedestrians and bicyclists is our priority. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we know that when the path is opened, it will be a wonderful way to explore the QC just in time for spring events.
But have no fear...this winter the crews will be out in droves figuring out the best way to clear the snow so you mall walkers turned bridge walkers will have a safe place to cross state lines.

What The Quad Cities Did For Fun in the 90's

Many times over the years, I'll be talking with friends about years gone by and I'll say "take me back".

Every generation goes through this, I assume. Looking back at a more simple time where responsibilities haven't set in and life seems fun. Opportunities are endless.

Let's go back to the 1990's to Wacky Waters, 50 Cent Beer night and revisit Mallards Mania!
