Free Show! I-74 Bridge to Test Color-Changing Lighting Over Next 30 Days
Is this what my kid felt like when her LED light strips came in the mail? Because I'm pretty excited about this!
Starting tonight, Friday, July 22 the I-74 Bridge will be testing the new lighting setup to make sure barge captains and the crew will be able to navigate without issue. The bridge will be lit up with different lighting "scenes" each night for approximately 30 days.
In a recent press release, i74riverbridge.com says they are getting closer to completing the "beautiful new color-changing lighting on the new I 74 river bridge. Contractors have installed all the lighting components and staff at the cities of Bettendorf in Moline have been trained to create and operate dramatic new lighting scenes."
So for the next month or so, the US Coast Guard will collect feedback from the barge captains in the project team and will review and adjust the lighting intensity if necessary.
The last thing we want is for a rave to break out on board.
We've already seen the bridge lit up for St. Patrick's day in all green, and red white and blue for Independence Day, even blue & yellow to show support for Ukraine.
So, that means we'll get a new lighting "scene" for each season, but this is a unique opportunity for the public to catch the lighting magic without having to wait for a new month to roll in.
"Whether you choose to drive over the bridge walk the new bike path and pedestrian path or view the bridge from the riverfront you’ll get a fantastic view of the gorgeous lighting on the I 74 river bridge"
Here's a preview of the upcoming 30 days...
