Iowa School Reopening Plan Is Well, a Bit Shocking
School decision makers in Iowa have released a reopening plan and it's a bit surprising.
The guidelines for opening schools back up on July 1 to normal activities don't seem any different that before the pandemic.
According to a KWQC TV article, guidelines don't require health checks before entering the building, no masks and no social distancing. The KWQC TV story goes on to say this:
A spokeswoman for the Iowa State Education Association, the state’s teacher’s union, says the plan doesn’t comply with CDC guidelines for public places and is an “obscene” gamble on the health of students, teachers and other school employees.
An education department representative says the guidelines were created by the Iowa Department of Public Health according to KWQC. It is hoped schools and school districts will impose their own stricter guidelines.
I think that's probably a good idea to protect our kids and educators.
