It’s Tax Free Weekend in Iowa
You don't have to have a child in school to enjoy the benefits of tax free weekend in Iowa.
Let's face it. Last year all of us pretty much lived in comfy sweats, shorts and loungewear as we worked from home. Now that kids are back in school and many of us are back in the workplace, it's a great time to buy some new duds and save little money while we're at it.
Tax free weekend lasts until midnight today, Sat., Aug. 6. Sunday isn't included in the tax free weekend so get out and shop today.
The rules are pretty simple. Spend up to $100 on clothing and shoes and you won't have to pay state sales tax in Iowa. Iowa's sales tax, which ranges from 6% to 7%, depending on your location.
You can shop at big retailers, local businesses and even online; even for businesses out of state. According to the Des Moines Register if an online retailer still charges state sales tax on your order, the Iowa Department of Revenue offers reimbursements through an IA 843 Claim for Refund form.
Using coupons can be tricky. Basically if you coupons you have to follow some rules. If a store coupon or discount brings the price of an item under $100, it will be exempt from sales tax.
