The new space will add 25,000 square-feet, which will make the entire museum 121,000 square-feet in size, per WQAD. The new addition will feature historic trucks and other trucking industry memorabilia on display, including four Sterling trucks from the 1920s to the 1940s, as well as a 1948 Mach EWSQ armored truck that transported coins for Wells Fargo back in the day.

The construction will last into the fall, and will not impact the museum's current operating hours. Admission to the museum is free and the hours are as follows:

  • 9am - 5pm: Wednesday-Saturday, and 12pm - 5pm Sunday through Memorial Day
  • 9am - 5pm: Monday-Saturday, and 12pm - 5pm Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day

Meanwhile, the Iowa 80 Truckstop, which is billed as "The World's Largest Truck Stop," sits on 220 acres of land (the typical plot of land for a truck stop is 75 acres). Its main building is 67,000 square-feet, and has enough parking for a whopping 900 trucks. Beyond that, it's equipped with 15 diesel fuel pumps, and also has a dedicated pump for dispensing bulk diesel exhaust fluid, per Wikipedia. The attraction sees roughly 5,000 visitors a day.
