TikTok Challenge Ends in Felony Arrest for Florida Teenager
An 18-year-old’s attempt to go viral turned into a legal nightmare after he was caught hiding inside a Florida Walmart after hours. Isaac Hurley now faces a felony burglary charge following a failed "24-hour challenge" aimed at gaining social media fame.
Caught in the Pet Aisle
Police arrived at the Englewood Walmart Tuesday night after a witness reported a man livestreaming his trespass. Officers discovered Hurley "hiding between dog beds and actively recording on his phone." The teenager had entered the store shortly before its 11:00 PM closing time, hoping to remain undetected for a full day.
Motivated by Viral Fame
According to police records, Hurley’s goal was purely financial. After being read his rights, Hurley "advised that he believed he could earn money from TikTok views and decided to conduct a 24-hour challenge inside Walmart." Investigators later found a video on his profile "stating he intended to complete a 24-hour challenge inside Walmart and requesting likes and shares."
Legal Consequences and Theft Charges
The stunt was cut short while staff were still on-site finishing nightly tasks. In addition to the burglary count, Hurley was charged with theft for allegedly taking a $16 phone charger.
Hurley, who recently arrived from Tennessee, pleaded not guilty and was released on a $1,500 bond. A judge has since banned him from entering any Walmart property.
