Empowering confident youth isn't luck.... It's Mentorship!
Building on the legacy of the Trumps & Tricks Euchre Fundraiser hosted by Gallagher (formerly Molyneaux Insurance), Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley is proud to continue this community tradition with Euchre Night 2026.
The fun will be on October 22 at the Starlight Ballroom at the Mississippi Valley Fair. You must register by October 16.
It's an evening of friendly euchre, heavy hors d'oeuvres, drinks, prizes, and interactive challenges throughout the night. Whether you're a seasoned card player or simply looking for a fun night out, Euchre Night offers something for everyone.
What Is Euchre?
Ok, not going to lie. If you haven't played before, you have some studying to do. This isn't like playing Crazy Eights or Go Fish. It's got some rules and some tricks to become a good euchre player.
However, if you are looking for the basics, here is what you need to know.
- First off, you are only using 24 cards. 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace
- Each player (4 total) is dealt 5 cards.
- There is a "kitty" with the last 4 cards placed in the center.
- Now we talk about Bowers. And Bidding for Trump. And that's before we even get into actual playing and scoring. You know what, never mind...if you need to learn the rules before Oct 22, start playing now with the full rules from Bicycle Cards.
Here is what you really need to know: on October 22, you can have some fun playing cards and help Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley.
It's $40 for a single player and $80 for partners. You'll be entered in the tournament, which will include hors d'oeuvres, dessert, and a drink ticket.
There will also be prizes, raffles, and a 50/50 giveaway.
It's all to support a great cause in Big Brothers Big Sisters, so sign up here today. You need to register here by October 16. So get your partner (and the rules) ready to play some Euchre!
