It's still February.  There is still (some) snow on the ground.  But the Quad Cities is already seeing construction barrels around town.  Some of these are quick repairs as they fill the many potholes around town. Others are the next phase of a long-term project.

In Bettendorf, the Forest Grove Drive project is heading into the next phase of construction that will cause new headaches for drivers in the area.

A New Gateway To Bettendorf

The Forest Grove Drive project is the biggest public works project in the history of Bettendorf.  The city says it will bring the streets and sewers in the area "up to par, pun intended".  The construction is being done to support the $100 million expansion of the TBK Bank Sports Complex and the new golf facility being built.

Phase 1 of the project "ended" in December.  But they didn't have to wait for it to get warm to start phase 2.  The next phase, and its detours, are starting now and will continue through September of 2023.

Massive Golf Facility and Growth in The Area

So about this new golf option.  The Iron Tee Golf Facility will be located across the street from the TBK Sports complex and feature a huge state-of-the-art driving range, sports bar, mini golf, virtual reality, arcade, and more.  Basically, think of it like Top Golf, but with even more to do.

The Forest Grove Drive and Middle Road area was already booming with the TBK Sports Complex, other businesses, hotels, restaurants, and bars.  With the opening of this facility, the northeast side of town will have even more options.

But while the construction happens, the current businesses are hoping enough people maneuver the construction and detours to continue to support them.

Phase 2 Traffic Changes Start February 21

Here are the new routes you'll need to take around the area.

Thru traffic along Forest Grove Drive will be detoured using the recently completed extension of Competition Drive and Friendship Path (See Blue Detour).

Thru traffic along Middle Road will be detoured using Hopewell Avenue and 53rd Avenue to the south and Competition Drive to the north (See Red Detour).

The third and final phase of the project is scheduled to take place between September and November of 2023.
