If you work or live in Moline, you might want to keep this road closure in mind to end your work week.

According to the City of Moline, there's a road closure that includes Avenue of the Cities, from 18th Street A to 19th Street. The city wants to remind you road work continues on Avenue of the Cities from 18th Street A to 19th Street, and a full closure of Avenue of the Cities will start Thursday, July 22, 2021.

The closure is happening to facilitate the installation of new sanitary sewer and water main. This full closure is expected to last three days. Message boards are in place notifying the traveling public of any changes in traffic and detour signs will be in place.

The City of Moline encourages all of us to plan ahead and use an alternate route. Which is something all of us are used to during the summer months and certainly during the new I-74 bridge construction.

The construction is expected to last until August and eastbound traffic will remain closed for two or three more weeks. I know, it's a pain, but consider yourself forewarned. The city reminds us "for your safety and the safety of others, always slow down and use caution in construction zones. Stay safe Moline." We can all get on board with that.

We do our best to keep you up to date on traffic conditions in the Quad Cities area, especially around the I-74 bridge, but you can always follow the City of Moline's social media page here too.
