The Channel Cat Water Taxi is officially looking for local talent to perform aboard its boats this summer, turning everyday rides along the Mississippi River into floating live music experiences.

Performers Wanted for “Channel Cat Sessions”

MetroLINK has issued a Call for Talent for its new “Channel Cat Sessions,” a pop-up music series set to take place during the Summer 2026 season. The goal is simple: enhance the rider experience while showcasing local and regional musicians in a one-of-a-kind venue.

Organizers are specifically looking for solo performers who are comfortable playing in nontraditional settings and can engage a wide, all-ages audience without disrupting normal ferry operations. All genres are welcome.

What Selected Musicians Can Expect

Those chosen will perform two separate sets lasting about two hours each aboard the Channel Cat boats. Performers will work closely with staff to coordinate timing, boarding, and setup while following all safety guidelines.

And yes—there’s pay involved.

MetroLINK says performers will receive a stipend of around $300 per performance, recognizing both preparation time and the professionalism of the gig.

Important Dates to Know

  • Submission deadline: April 24, 2026 (by 4 p.m.)
  • Performer selection: May 8, 2026
  • Performances: Scheduled between June and August 2026

The shows are expected to take place on select Thursdays and Sundays throughout the summer.

A Concert Experience Like No Other

The Channel Cat, which runs between riverfront cities like Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, and East Moline, already offers scenic rides across the Mississippi.

Now, organizers hope to add a soundtrack to the experience—creating a relaxing, immersive way to enjoy both local music and riverfront views at the same time.

So if you’ve ever dreamed of performing on stage… imagine that stage floating down the Mississippi.

And for Quad Cities riders this summer, your next ferry ride might just come with a live concert.
