Quad City-area police departments are giving community members a chance to hang out for a while and get to know their officers next week at National Night Out.

East Moline & Moline Police Departments have teamed up to hold the free, family-friendly event on August 2nd at Willow Springs Club. It will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Eldridge Police Department will have its first National Night Out event the same day at Sheridan Meadows Park from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

The event in East Moline will feature food, raffles, and a dunk tank, and kids will have the opportunity to explore the emergency cars. There will even be prizes for the kiddos.

Because it's a National Night Out, there's another one going on too. The event in Eldridge is their police department's first National Night Out and will also have demos and emergency vehicle tours for kids. It will have barbecue, fireworks, and some of your kids' favorite Disney Princesses and Star Wars characters will be there too.

Eldridge residents are encouraged to turn on their porch lights beginning at 9:00 p.m. on August 2nd to encourage neighborhood safety and show support for Eldridge Police.

National Night Out is an event that police departments all over America take part in on the first Tuesday in August. It's an opportunity for community members and law enforcement to come together, get to know each other, and enjoy a meal and some fun. It is designed to help make communities safer and open the communication between law enforcement officers and community members.
