This Popular Iowa Drive-In in Blue Grass is Open

It's good to have movies back and it's good to go back to the drive-in theater.

We were lucky last year...some drive-in theaters were open during the pandemic so we could go see movies and stay socially distanced. The downside was that movies pretty much came to a halt so all we could see at the drive-in were previously released films.

The Blue Grass Drive-in 774 W Mayne Street, Blue Grass, Iowa is open for the season. Movie goers were treated to a double feature of Kong vs. Godzilla and Tom and Jerry this weekend.

According to KWQC, theatre co-owner Randy Lorenz is excited for this season.

Last year, all the new movies didn’t exist, they canceled almost all of them they moved them to 2021, so this year we’re getting a lot of movies that are coming out that were supposed to be shown in 2020 are going to be shown in 2021,” he said.

Gate and ticket booth open at 6pm and the movie starts at 8 on weekends. The theatre has two screens and now four private booths with six seating areas you can rent that accommodates indoor and outdoor seating.
