Drive-In Theaters To Open This Month In Quad Cities Area
As Spring continues and that snow finally stops, we all look forward to those warm summer nights, and a perfect start to that awesome weather and fun family times is drive-in theaters. Many local theaters are opening up this month!
Today we will be looking at 4 awesome theaters in the Quad Cities Area!
The Theaters
61 Drive-In Theater: Located at 1228 US-61, Delmar, IA 52037. Their 2022 season starts on April 22nd and 23rd! During the pandemic, they were open and were one of my favorite spots to visit. This year they have all the family-friendly activities their guests love. These include train rides, swing sets, volleyball, and many other things along with great movies. You can see future movies and showtimes here.
Blue Grass Drive-In: Located at 774 W Mayne St, Blue Grass, IA 52726. Reopening this month! Blue Grass Drive-In is beginning its 8th full year and is excited to see you again. They've also added a few things over the years.
In 2019 we added our third projector, and in 2021 we added our fourth! Join us for unrivaled entertainment located right here in Blue Grass, Iowa.
They also have birthday packages, private events, and private viewing boxes. You can see future movies and showtimes here.
The Midway Drive-In: Located at 91 Palmyra Road Sterling, Illinois 61021. Referred to as "Illinois coolest drive-in", The Midway Drive-In opened in 1950 in Sterling, Illinois, and has been in operation ever since. Their website currently reads,
Thank you for your support during this past year. The Midway Drive-In is now closed for the season. We are already at work planning for the 2022 season including the Grand reopening of our concession stand.
The Midway Drive-In is considered a genuine historical landmark by many. You can see future movies and showtimes here.
Galesburg Blue Moonlight Drive-In Theater: Located at 2875 W Main St, Galesburg, IL 61401. Across the way from Farm King. They hosted live events on their Facebook, but they have had a few difficulties finding staff. They stated in a Facebook post last June,
We all miss the drive-in! I wish I had good news, but as a volunteer page for the Drive-In, we only know what they tell us. So far that is they hope to have a few movie weekends at some point this year, probably mid-summer.

Hopefully, we see all 4 of these spots open again for their 2022 season. Since 2020 many people have fallen in love with the drive-in theater all over again. I am one of those people! I can't wait to catch more movies this year!
