QC Crime Stoppers 5k is this weekend. Runners will start in downtown Moline at Bass Street Landing on Saturday, October 9.

Regardless of whether you’re fresh out of the academy or have been pounding the beat for 20 years, every officer needs to get in shape if they hope to keep up with the demands of their job. And with QC Crime Stoppers' 5k race you'll be able to test your fitness along side of the Quad Cities finest!

It's an ideal event for police officers and us civilians looking to get in shape while supporting our community at the same time!

The registration link is below! Sign up for one of the best, flattest and cheapest 5Ks in the QC. They are raising money for a P3 system that all of our area schools use. It is an anonymous way for students, faculty, staff, and parents to report possible crimes or threats. Help keep QC area schools safe.

Been There Done That is playing the after party from 7-9 pm as the runners return to Bass Street Landing in Moline.

Getting in shape requires a lot of discipline and hard work, but it doesn’t need to be expensive. Running is a great low-impact exercise that can be done just about anywhere for very little cost. All you need is a good pair of shoes and some open space. Joining a local training group might also be helpful in keeping yourself motivated and giving you access to some free expertise on proper technique and workout design. Training alongside other runners is fun, too!

If buying a pumpkin at a store doesn't cut it and you want the full experience of a pumpkin patch, we have the full list of pumpkin patches throughout the Quad Cities. If we are missing any local pumpkin patches, email us here.

LOOK: Things from the year you were born that don't exist anymore

The iconic (and at times silly) toys, technologies, and electronics have been usurped since their grand entrance, either by advances in technology or breakthroughs in common sense. See how many things on this list trigger childhood memories—and which ones were here and gone so fast you missed them entirely.
