Quad Cities Riverfront Pops Concert Features The Rolling Stones

Well, I mean songs from the Rolling Stones, not the actual members of the band.

We are so lucky to have such a great orchestra in our community. The Quad City Symphony Orchestra has been performing in our area for over 100 years. Their music education programs are top notch and when the group wants to have a little 'pop' fun, they really bring it.

I know I shouldn't admit this since I was raised on classical music, but when the QCSO performs their holiday and Riverfront Pops I always buy tickets to the shows. Let's face it; my three year old grand daughter will happily dance to the pops, but I'm thinking she's not quite ready to sit still and not have happy feet for the QSCO's Masterworks concerts.

This year the Riverfront Pops are performing songs by the Rolling Stones which of course includes Mick Jagger and Keith Richards on the levee in downtown Davenport. I already know the QCSO musicians will smash this. Did you see the Fleetwood Mac concert a few years ago? Amazing.

Get ready to bring your picnic supplies, lawn chairs and blankets to the LeClaire Park Bandshell along the river in Davenport while the Quad City Symphony Orchestra performs The Rolling Stones' greatest hits from the iconic albums Beggar’s Banquet and Let It Bleed, including “Sympathy For The Devil,” “Midnight Rambler,” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want!”

As always the concert closes with the traditional renditions of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever set to a brilliant fireworks display. Get there early and enjoy a pre-show from the Quad City Youth Orchestra. Gates open at 4 pm, Youth Symphony performs at 6:30 and the main event starts at 7:30.
