Rock Island & Moline Will Battle It Out In Vintage Football Game
This Saturday you can catch the annual vintage football game at Douglas Park in Rock Island. The Rock Island Independents and the Moline Universal Tractors will be battling out in this historic game, and celebration of the sport. kick-off is at 12:30 pm. This game is going to be a fun one.
Why They Play
The game's main idea is to celebrate the pro football history in the city of Rock Island and the surrounding QCA. The teams selected to represent the era are the Rock Island Independents and the Moline Universal Tractors.
Another significant part about this celebration is that no admission will be charged. The teams will wear custom-designed replica jerseys, and leather helmets while using a 1920s-style melon football. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and grab a spot right next to the field just as they did back in the 1920s.
Vintage football t-shirts, footballs, and memorabilia will also be available for sale. They will also be selling food, drinks, and various beers. Outside alcohol is not permitted.

Ready to catch the game? The teams will take the field to warm up around 11:00 am. Kids and fans alike are more than welcome to come to the field to check out the equipment and talk with the players.
Team and player introductions will begin at 12:00 pm.
The coin toss will be at 12:30 pm featuring Mayor Mike Thoms.
The game will kick off at 12:30 pm and will last about 2 hours.
