The Rock Island Arsenal is the place to be on Armed Forces Day on May 21st.

Not only are they celebrating Armed Forces Day but they're also celebrating the arsenal's 160th anniversary with a bunch of events on that day:

  • America's KidsRun
  • Run the Rock 5k & 10k
  • Mascot races
  • Military displays
  • kids' zone
  • petting zoo
  • food & beer trucks
  • live music

You can register for the KidsRun or the Run the Rock race here. The KidsRun will be first, earliest starting ages at 9:00 a.m., the next groups at 9:15, and then finally the adults will run the 5 or 10k starting at 10. Registration for the 5k and 10k is $38. All of the KidsRun races have a registration fee of $18.

Packet pickup for those doing the race will be Friday, May 20 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Lock & Dam Lounge (building 60 on the arsenal). Race day registration will be from 6:30 a.m.-8:00 a.m. at Memorial Field and it is cash only.

Live music will be from "Cody Road Live" and the event will also feature a Spring bazaar and a festival pavilion. So even if you don't like running or anything demanding physical activity, it sounds like there's definitely going to be something for you to do.
