There's been good news in the Quad Cities this week with many new businesses opening or reopening. In addition to Country Style, Anytime Fitness and Long John Silvers/A&W Rootbeer, H&M opens at Northpark Mall tomorrow.

Unfortunately, getting laid off has become as American as apple pie. In 2004, Bruce Schafman didn't let losing his job at the meat counter at the old Eagle store in Milan deter him. He opened up his own meat market right behind the old Eagle, and put some of his fellow meat counter employees to work at the new Meatheads...
