Rock Falls “Touch A Truck” Brings Big Machines and Family Fun Back for 2026
The annual Touch A Truck event in Rock Falls is set to return on Saturday, May 30, 2026, giving families a hands-on chance to explore some of the biggest and coolest vehicles around.
Known as “The Big One,” the event lets kids climb on, touch, and learn about a wide variety of machines, from construction equipment and emergency vehicles to specialty trucks. Organizers say the experience is all about sparking curiosity while teaching how these vehicles work in real life.
The event will move to a new downtown location in 2026, allowing for more space, interactive activities, and live demonstrations throughout the day.
Touch A Truck remains free to attend and continues to draw families from across the region, making it one of the most popular kid-friendly events of the year.
Rock Falls “Touch A Truck” Returns with Hands-On Fun, Big Machines, and Family-Friendly Activities
Organizers of the annual Touch A Truck event in Rock Falls have announced that “The Big One” has been recognized as the largest event of its kind in the United States.
The milestone comes after a record-setting 2025 event that featured more than 170 vehicles, ranging from massive agricultural equipment and construction rigs to emergency vehicles, race cars, and vintage transportation.
From Local Event to National Attraction
Event Chairman John Watts says the recognition reflects years of growth and community support. What began as a small, local initiative has evolved into a major draw for families and exhibitors from across the region and beyond.
While most Touch A Truck-style events typically feature a few dozen vehicles, Rock Falls has far surpassed that benchmark. Organizers say the event’s scale, diversity of equipment, and strong educational focus helped it earn the “largest in the country” designation.
At its core, the event centers around four key pillars: Look, Touch, Learn, and Inspire. Each vehicle is staffed by knowledgeable operators or professionals who give kids a hands-on opportunity to explore how the machines work and learn about potential career paths.
Downtown Move Planned for 2026
To accommodate its rapid growth, “The Big One” will relocate to a new downtown setting in 2026. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, and will take place in the heart of Rock Falls.
Organizers say the move will allow for more space, better integration with local businesses, and expanded opportunities for live demonstrations and interactive zones. While last year’s concert-style after-party will not return, the focus will shift entirely to enhancing the core experience.
Keeping It Accessible and Inclusive
The event will remain free to attend and will continue offering a “Quiet Hour” designed for sensory-sensitive visitors, ensuring accessibility for all families.
With its new national title and expanded footprint, organizers are inviting visitors from across the country to experience what they call the ultimate hands-on vehicle showcase.
“If it has wheels, tracks, or rotors,” Watts said, “you’ll find it here.”
