What better way is there to wrap up summer than with the family and kids while doing something you both love? Children ages 5-13 were invited to participate in a fishing challenge at Riverside Park Pond. This event is great for the family, and many have already registered.

How It Works

According to the website,

Kids will be divided into age groups, ages 5-8 and 9-13. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish in each age group (by weight) and the most fish caught (by number) in each age group. All ages will fish at the same time.

This challenge will take place this weekend Saturday, August 13th from 9:00-10:00 a.m. With prizes being awarded after. The challenge will be catch and release.

Something else that's nice is that adults may help with the removal of fish from line and casting if need be but will not be allowed to fish themselves. As a kid, I struggled the most with removing my fish from the line.

Join In Next Year

While registration is over for this year's event, the Quad Cities has countless fishing events held each year, and even more, are held in the surrounding areas. A very popular one is the Walleye challenge. This event is over 30 days long and offers a great time for more experienced fishermen.

Events like the one at Riverside Park Pond in Moline are great for kids, and we hope to see it next year. Another popular fishing event in the Quad Cities is at the start of the summer when people can fish for free.

We will see you next year for more great fishing, or even this year for later in-the-season events.

Up The Hill Of The Bix Seven

We started to see the runners a little after 8 a.m. and boy was there a lot of them!

The Bix 7 Coming Back

Now we get to see those we may have missed in the big crowds at the start as the groups start to shrink in the second half. Shout out to those who led the run!
