$500,000 Powerball Ticket Sold In Clinton

Someone in Clinton is about to be very rich and happy. The Iowa Lottery announced that a Powerball ticket sold in Clinton is worth $500,000.

According to a press release from the Iowa Lottery, someone who purchased a Powerball ticket in Clinton is a big winner. They won a $500,000 prize from Wednesday night's Powerball drawing.

The $500,000 Powerball winning ticket was sold at a Kwik Star in Clinton. This Kwik Star is located at 911 S. 14th St. in Clinton. According to the Iowa Lottery, the ticket was within one number of taking a share of the $87.3 million jackpot.

The winning ticket in Clinton matched four of the first five numbers according to the Iowa Lottery. This would normally win $50,000 but because the ticket purchaser added the Power Play, it multiplied it to the winning amount of $500,000. The winning numbers from Wednesday night's drawing were 27-47-61-62-69, and the Powerball number being 4.

This is the second time this month that  someone in Iowa has won $500,000. A Waterloo man also won $500,000 in the same fashion with the Powerball drawing back on July 8th.

Since no one matched all six numbers to win the jackpot on Wednesday, the big prize is expected to rise to an estimated $97 million for Saturday's drawing.

Since this $500,000 ticket was sold at Kwik Star, they will receive a $500 bonus from the Iowa Lottery.
