The City of Bettendorf is planning a party and they need your help. It's a zip code party scheduled for May 25, 22 which also happens to include the numbers of the city's zip code, 52722.

The date is set, but city reps are asking for input for what kinds of events to include in the celebration. Bettendorf Mayor, Bob Gallagher has recorded a video message asking for input to plan a city-wide celebration. Should the celebration include bar crawls, bags tournaments, Bettendorf trivia, fish fries, or something completely different?

May 27th just happens to be the Friday before Memorial Day, so that's a weekend we celebrate anyway. If anyone is asking for MY vote, I say every celebration is better with live, local music. Let's have some bands and plenty of food trucks and beverages. Activities for the kids are always a hit too.

The following weekend is the now annual Be Downtown event, so the mayor is looking to link the two celebrations together.

Gallager says, "...we need some ideas and some cool things to get everybody out and about and back together that weekend of Memorial Day and the following week."

Ideas are already starting to come in. Here are a few:

City wide putt putt course at establishments like bars restaurants local shops

Food fest like Taste of Chicago with local restaurants.

5k run/walk. Add some food vendors, live music, fireworks

If you have ideas for the Bettendorf zip code party, email them to the city at 52722party@bettendorf.org. We'll keep you posted on what the city has planned.
