Gun Found At Security at Quad City Airport
According to a report by our news partners at Local 4 News, passengers were thankful after security personnel at the TSA checkpoint at Quad City Airport found a gun in a passengers luggage on Sunday.
The weapon was a 9mm handgun, unloaded and packed in a passengers carry-on bag. The passenger, 37-year-old Derick Burton, was headed to Atlanta.
Burton was charged with a Class A misdemeanor for unlawful use of a weapon, and was taken to Rock Island County jail.
Handguns are only permitted in checked baggage and must be unloaded and locked up. The penalties for bringing a gun on an airplane range in fines up to $9,800 for a single violation.
