Illinois-bound I-74 New Traffic Shift Starts Wednesday
Traffic is switching up on the new I-74 bridge. As crews continue to work on the new bridge, more and more of it is coming to completion. Contractors have recently completed a section of the new bridge which means starting Wednesday, traffic patterns will be changing again.
In a social media post on Monday, officials from the new I-74 River Bridge announced that starting on Wednesday, traffic patterns will be shifting.
In the post, officials say that contractors have recently completed a new section of the I-74 bridge heading into Illinois. The new portion that was completed is south of the 6th Ave exit in Moline.
Due to that section being complete, starting Wednesday, July 14 (weather permitting), there will be noticeable changes as drivers enter Illinois.
Those noticeable changes the drivers will see starting Wednesday include:
- Right after crossing the new I-74 River Bridge into Illinois, motorists should watch for traffic signs and orange barrels guiding them to the newly completed section of I-74.
- There will be two lanes of Illinois-bound traffic:
- The right lane will allow motorists to exit at 6th Ave or continue on towards Avenue of the Cities and other exits.
