[FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE] Top-seeded Johnston won the 5A title with a 51-31 victory over Waterloo West.

[FRIDAY MORNING UPDATE] Waterloo West will play Johnston in the 5A Championship game Friday night at 6 p.m.

[TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE] Area teams went 1-1 in Class 5A Monday with Iowa City High falling to Pleasant Valley and Waterloo West upset Ankeny Centennial. See the updated bracket below.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Tournament action begins at 10 a.m. Monday morning in Class 5A with a pair of central Iowa teams in action. However, it won't take long to see teams from the listening area on the court. Iowa City High and Waterloo West will both take to the floor at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines by around mid-afternoon.

[SATURDAY UPDATE] Xavier of Cedar Rapids was crowned the 4A champion after defeating Bishop Heelan 54-40.

[FRIDAY MORNING UPDATE] Xavier of Cedar Rapids and Bishop Heelan of Sioux City will meet in the 4A title game Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

[WEDNESDAY MORNING UPDATE] In 4A action on Tuesday, one of three area teams advanced to the semifinals. #4 seed Cedar Rapids Xavier will play top-seeded Dallas Center-Grimes Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. for the chance to play in Saturday afternoon's state title game.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Games in Class 4A don't begin until Tuesday morning but three of the four first-round games will feature area teams. Benton Community plays in the first game Tuesday morning at 11:45 a.m. They'll be followed by Cedar Rapids Xavier at 1:30 P.M. Waverly-Shell Rock plays in the final 4A game Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m.

[SATURDAY UPDATE] Estherville-Lincoln Central beat Ballard 44-30, winning the 3A title.

[WEDNESDAY MORNING UPDATE] In Class 3A, the only area team in the tournament, Center Point-Urbana, lost their opening round game to Ballard.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Only one area team is in the field in Class 3A. Center Point-Urbana (21-3) is the #6 seed and will play 3rd seed Ballard Tuesday at 10 a.m.

[SATURDAY UPDATE] Top-seeded Dike New Hartford won the title on Saturday, defeating #3 seed Central Lyon 59-52.

[THURSDAY UPDATE] 2nd-seeded Denver beat Underwood by 7 on Wednesday, setting up a #2-#3 matchup in Friday morning's semifinals. The game against #3 seed Central Lyon will tip-off at 11:45 Friday morning.

[WEDNESDAY MORNING UPDATE] Tuesday's 2A action in Des Moines included a split for area teams. Top-seeded Dike-New Hartford won by 20 points while #5 seed Regina Catholic (Iowa City) fell by 8 in their game.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Half of the 2A field is from the listening area, including the top two seeds. Twice-beaten Dike-New Hartford is the #1 seed with Denver, who has also lost just twice, being the #2 seed. Iowa City Regina and Cascade are the 5th and 6th seeds, respectively.

[SATURDAY UPDATE] #2 seed Bishop Garrigan took home the 1A title on the strength of a 52-49 win over the 4th seed MMCRU.

[THURSDAY MORNING UPDATE] North Linn and Springville had a close battle in the #3-#6 matchup Wednesday night, with North Linn winning by two points. The 6th-seeded Lynx will play #2 seed Bishop Garrigan Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the semi-finals.

[ORIGINAL STORY] In Class 1A, two area teams made the field. Unfortunately, Springville and North Linn will meet each other in the opening round Wednesday night at 6:45 p.m.
