The Most Popular Cereal In Illinois Is 80 Years Old
Cereal is wonderful. Of course, it's great for breakfast, but it can also be a meal for lunch, dinner, or a late-night snack. Yeah, a greasy burger or pizza after a long night can always hit the spot, but you could end up feeling like a pile of grease in the morning. And you don't have to worry about forgetting to turn off the stove after making that mac and cheese and burning a hole in your pot. Totally not speaking from experience.
I gave up counting how many types of cereal there are for you to choose from. The list is very, very long. But with National Cereal Day here, we did find out what Illinois is munching on.

The research was done using Google Keyword Planner to find the top 12 cereals, which were ranked based on average search volumes across the past 12 months.
The order for Illinois was slightly different from the national most popular.
- Cheerios
- Lucky Charms
- Cinnamon Toast Crunch
- Fruity Pebbles
- Frosted Flakes (Ranked 7 in Illinois
- Froot Loops
- Rice Krispies (Ranked 5 in Illinois)
- Corn Flakes
- Raisin Bran
- Special K
- Trix (Ranked 12 in Illinois)
- Cap'n Crunch (Ranked 11 in Illinois)
I wouldn't say regular Cap'n Crunch is one of my favorites, but if you are talking about Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch...now I'm in. That is the top unhealthy choice for me.
Cheerios, Krispies, and Flakes of any kind are boring unless you have fruit to go with them. Strawberries, Blue Berries, Bananas. Now I'm in on those.
But my all time favorite would be Blueberry Morning. Not sure they even make it anymore cause it was like $7 for a small box. Definitely a fancy treat. That is not really what cereal is supposed to be...which is probably why it's not around anymore.
Next time you have a late night, just give the cereal a try. It might not be as satisfying at 1am, but you'll feel much better at 10am.
