Strong Severe Weather Now Set To Impact Illinois Wednesday
It's no joke: Severe weather could hit the Midwest in April. Illinois has the most potential for strong storms that could contain hail, strong winds, and possible tornadoes, but a large portion of Iowa could also see these storms.
Prepare For The Storms Now
The National Weather Service reminds us to be prepared. Now is the time to adjust plans and ensure your shelter is ready.
While this is a good reminder for Tuesday and Wednesday, this is just the start of storm season. So it's best to get all your severe weather plans in place, as this won't be the last we see of severe weather.
Severe Weather Still Possible Tuesday Night For Iowa and Illinois
A strong storm system will bring the risk of two rounds of potential storms. The first round, however, isn't expected to be severe for Illinois, with some possible thunderstorms in southwest Iowa.
Enhanced Risk For Illinois and Iowa Storms On Wednesday
A line of storms will be ongoing at sunrise Wednesday morning, but there is the potential for the storms to intensify through the morning hours as the line moves eastward.
All hazards are possible, especially damaging winds, large hail, and even a tornado. There is an Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) for severe weather along and east of the Mississippi River for most of Illinois, with a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for Eastern Iowa.
The storms are expected to be fast-moving, so be sure to stay tuned to get the latest information and alerts as they happen.
