The Quad Cities Play Station Changes Name
The Play Station has been in Iowa for 29 years. First built in Cedar Rapids Iowa, a few years ago a second location opened in the Quad Cities. The Play Station has been owned by a few different people over its long history, but the Edwards family has been operating both locations for many years now. In fact, they were the ones who brought the Play Station to the Quad Cities.
Today they announced a name change.
The New Name
In a lengthy post, it was announced that the Play Station would no longer be the official name of the two locations. It appears that the main reason for this is due to popular Sony Playstation gaming counsel.
The new name will be "The Fun Station." The Facebook pages have already changed their names.
Why This Is Good
I know some may be frustrated at the name change, but I totally understand why this happened, and I know from my own experience just how bad the gaming counsel confusion was. My first official job ever was working at the Play Station in Cedar Rapids Iowa. We would get between three to five calls a day from confused Playstation counsel players. It got so bad we had to write Sony's number on a notepad to redirect people.
A name change is a little thing but can mean a lot to people. I grew up with the Play Station and worked for three years at the Play Station, but I think this name change is just another great chapter in this business's great, and long history.
The last time I talked with the owner he seemed excited saying,
Our goal is to be the Quad Cities most fun place for family fun!
