Popular Illinois Pizzeria Opening New Iowa Location In Historic Building
A new pizza place is coming to the Quad Cities, and it's going in a very familiar building that once housed a historic restaurant.
But this Iowa location will have a twist specific to it that the Illinois location does not have.
Ross' Restaurant Location In Bettendorf
Ross' Restaurant in Bettendorf was established in 1938. The original building was moved in 2015 due to the construction of the new I-74 Bridge.
In October 2023 the owners, Ron and Cynthia Freidhof, decided it was time to retire after 50 years of running the historic restaurant. At that time the building was put on the market for $1,595,000.
Now, about a year after closing, there is a new owner that will be expanding their Quad Cities footprint.
Tony's Pizzeria Coming To Bettendorf
The "Restaurant" part of the sign remains the same. But the name has changed from Ross to Tony. As in "Tony's Pizzeria".
Tony's has been serving deep-dish pizza and other favorites at their location on 5th Ave in Moline and will now be crossing the bridge to serve pizza...and now even more at this location.
More Than Just Pizza Coming To This Tony's
Upon closer inspection of the new signage, Bettendorf will get "Tony's Chicago Pizza & Breakfast". Breakfast pizza?!? The Quad Cities loves breakfast pizza.
On Facebook Tony's said, "We will feature our Chicago Style Pizza as well as other Chicago style favorites but in this location, we will also feature breakfast. There is much to do before we will be ready to welcome you but we are hoping to be ready to open by the end of January."
The work still needs to be done on the inside, but the signs are up, and as you can see, the buzz has started for Tony's to open in Bettendorf.
