This Popular Bettendorf Restaurant Has Closed

We used to spend every Sunday here with my entire family eating brunch. It was my favorite neighborhood bar. Governors Pub and Grill, Bettendorf has officially closed according to their Facebook Page.

Even though there's been a plan in place since fall of 2017 for the restaurant to relocate and expand and operate under a new name, it still seems like the end of an era. The new restaurant located at 3636 Tanglewood Road, Bettendorf is now aptly, The Tangled Wood.

In earlier reports there were plans to raze the current Governor's Pub with a Hy-Vee gas station/convenience store to take it's place.

Governor's opened 43 years ago with a vision created by Dave Koenig. The Governor's Facebook page indicates The Tangled Wood will open January 14th. There's also a possibility Governor's could return in the form of a 'pop up' location sometime in the future.

I will gladly try The Tangled Wood and I wish them great success. I will also miss this fun, friendly, tasty neighborhood pub that was such a big part of my life.
