We’re Breaking Records Of The Worst Kind
Rain and thunder kept me awake last night, and this morning my poor pup was quaking from the noise. Rain is something this area doesn't need right now. It isn't even noon yet and we've already set a record for most rainfall ever on April 29th.
2.48" of rain has fallen overnight.
The old record, and it's really old, was 2.11" on this date in 1872 according to Local 4 News.
This water is sending the Mississippi River even higher, it's now at 20.93' and heading for 21.5'. This will likely be the 5th highest the river has ever been in the Quad Cities. And with more heavy rain in the forecast Tuesday, it could end up even higher.
Watch for more road closings. Highway 67 north of LeClaire is closed with water over the road.
