What Alcohol Goes Best with Halloween Candy
Halloween is the one time of year where candy is completely socially acceptable to eat in any amount you desire, without any judgment from others. However, while you might just want to gorge yourself on sugar until your teeth rot out of your head, keep in mind that some candy varieties are better than others, and deserve to be paired with an adult beverage. Whether you’re treating yourself after all the small children have gone to bed or need something to get through trick-or-treating, these booze pairings will help make your Halloween more enjoyable than ever before!
A new survey found WINE is the #1 pick that most people think pairs better with candy. Even more than beer or mixed drinks.
I'm not an expert but I say it all depends on your taste buds. If you want a more traditional pairing, it’s hard to beat some chocolate bars and nuts or chocolate-covered pretzels. Bourbon can also go great with just about any kind of nut—especially pecans, almonds and walnuts. And while everyone is trying their hand at new cocktails these days, bourbon still pairs extremely well with simple highballs like bourbon whiskey sours, Manhattans or Old Fashioneds.
Though rum is a universal match for most anything, there are some candies that pair better than others. For example, Snickers and Skittles work well with a light, white rum like Bacardi Superior Light Rum or a clear spiced rum like Sailor Jerry’s.
Pairing tequila with your favorite sweets might be a bit trickier. Tequila is primarily made from blue agave, and tastes grassy and herbal so maybe just stick to wine. In fact, tequila may never be the right choice.
