In a video on the NFL's Twitter account, Roger Goodell says "we made a mistake" and "we condemn racism." This is all way overdue.

I'll be honest right from the start. Almost nothing about this video from NFL Commissioner Goodell seems genuine. Maybe it's just me but something seems off. Maybe he's feeling really bad about how the NFL treated the players who protested.

Goodell said,

“We, the National Football League, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest.”

While not every person who serves, or served, in the U.S. military will agree, the ones I had conversations with all said that they were not offended by players taking a knee during the National Anthem. Their reason was because those protests were the very rights they fought for.

Nowhere in this video do we get to hear an actual apology for how players were treated after protesting.

When you start making those calls Roger, the first one should be an apology to Kap. Never too late Roger. Now let's keep moving in this direction.
