Temperatures will be in the upper 90s today and heat index values will be well over 100°. Today's hot temperatures have caused a Heat Advisory to be issued for the entire Quad Cities area.

The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities is saying it's going to be a hot and steamy day in the Quad Cities. It only makes sense it's going to feel like a very hot summer day because today is the first official day of summer!

According to the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities, we are going to experience hot and humid temperatures across the area today. Peak heat index values will be around 100° to 105°  this afternoon.

The hot and humid weather means a Heat Advisory has been issued for the Quad Cities area today. The Heat Advisory will go into effect starting at noon and ending at 7 p.m.

Besides the hot and humid conditions on the first day of summer, the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities says that storms will possibly impact the area this afternoon and evening thanks to a cold front. Some of those storms could be severe.

After the cold front moves through tonight, more warm temperatures will impact the Quad Cities area throughout the rest of the week. A chance of storms is possible as we get into the weekend.

This is the rest of the week's forecast, according to the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities:

    • A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 pm.
    • Sunny and hot, with a high near 98°.
    • Heat index values as high as 105°.
    • Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • Tonight
    • A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 pm.
    • Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 72°.
    • Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
    • New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Wednesday
    • Sunny, with a high near 89°.
    • Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
  • Wednesday Night
    • Mostly clear, with a low around 66°.
    • Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Thursday
    • Sunny, with a high near 91°.
  • Thursday Night
    • Partly cloudy, with a low around 69°.
  • Friday
    • A 30% chance of showers before 1 pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91°.
