Police Say Drugged Felon’s Car Rammed Davenport Building
A report published in the Quad City Times says Davenport Police have a convicted felon in custody accused of being the driver of a car that struck a downtown Davenport building yesterday.
The accused, 29 year-old Caleb Hawkins, allegedly veered off Harrison Street just before 4pm yesterday and crashed into 201 N. Harrison Street. The suspect was then seen trying to dump what police later said witnesses identified as prescription drugs and syringes in a nearby dumpsters before they arrived.
Damage to the building and surrounding vehicles was minor.
The accused is being held on $3,600 bail, and has prior convictions for second-degree theft and aggravated criminal misdemeanor third-degree theft.
