Bring the family and watch a free screening of "Wonder" at Vander Veer Botanical Garden this Friday, August 24, at sunset.

According to IMDB, the film "tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters 5th grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time." The film stars Jacob Tremblay and Owen Wilson.

It was the winning film in a contest where Davenport Parks and Recreation asked Facebook followers to choose what film they should screen on August 24th. There's a full evening of fun scheduled for the free showing of the movie at Vander Veer Botanical Garden in Davenport:

  • 6:00PM CT Food trucks will be there for food purchases.
  • 7:00PM CT Children's activities.
  • 7:30PM CT Dress like your favorite character from the movie and be in the costume parade.
  • Movie starts at dusk.

There is no rain date for the movie. If weather is a concern the park district will make a decision on the screening by 3PM on the afternoon of the screening. Here's the Facebook event.
