Parents and children in the Quad Cities can plan accordingly for Halloween on Friday, October 31. In Moline, East Moline, and Rock Island, Illinois, city officials have announced that trick-or-treating will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

All three cities have coordinated the same timeframe, giving families consistency across the area. Whether you live in downtown Rock Island, the neighborhoods of East Moline, or near Prospect Park in Moline, you’ll know exactly when to expect those costumed visitors at your door.

What That Means for Families

With the shared 5–8 p.m. window, families can enjoy an evening of fun without rushing. Costumes, candy bags, and flashlights should be ready to go before sunset. The City of Moline reminds residents, “Children are encouraged to walk on sidewalks and cross at corners or crosswalks. Carry a flashlight or glow sticks to help drivers see you.”

Homes participating in trick-or-treating are encouraged to turn on their porch lights to signal that candy is available.

Easy Tips for Safety and Fun

  •  Make sure costumes allow for clear vision and comfortable walking.
  •  Always use sidewalks and crosswalks when moving between houses.
  •  Keep pathways well-lit and free of obstacles for visitors.
  •  Turn on porch lights if you’re handing out candy.

This year’s unified schedule helps ensure a safe, festive, and stress-free Halloween for families across Moline, East Moline, and Rock Island. Bundle up, stay visible, and have fun collecting those treats!
