Trying To Learn A New Skill This Year? The Quad Cities Is The Perfect spot For That
Trying new things is an important part of the human experience, and the Quad Cities has countless different activities to try. One of those is this week!
Have you ever thought about sculpting? Maybe you love 3D art but just don’t know where to start? The Beréskin Gallery and Art Academy in Bettendorf have the perfect opportunity for you! This Friday, January 28, you can take “Clay 102”, an art class led by an instructor and esteemed artist Laura Warner to learn about all things clay.
The Goal
If you’re a little hesitant about trying something new, Laura will make you feel welcomed and comfortable. She says that her goal as an educator is to,
"Create a positive learning environment that addresses the needs of a diverse population and provides students a safe atmosphere in which critical thinking is encouraged and developed. She strives to lead students to be curious, observant, persistent, and expressive.”
You’ll learn everything about surface techniques for your clay forms and apply techniques like water glazing, appliques, and different textures. Everything you make will be glazed with food-safe glazes too! So that fancy hand-made bowl you spend so long on can actually be put to good use.
Here are What Some Of The Pros Are Making
Again these are professionals, but it's never too late to get started...

This class costs $150 and lasts from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm and artists are responsible for bringing their own apron/towel, everything else will be supplied by The Beréskin Gallery and Art Academy. Located at 2967 State Street in Bettendorf, Iowa, simply email bereskinartgallery@gmail.com or call (563) 508-4630 to secure your spot. Hurry though, they’re filling up fast!
